Impacts of Tax Reform on the competitiveness of wind power

The 8.8% CBS, although non-cumulative, will reduce the competitiveness of wind power by approximately R$ 10.87 per MWh.

On December 20, 2023, Constitutional Amendment 1321 was approved, changing the national tax system, mainly the taxation of income and consumption. On July 11, 2024, the National Congress approved the text of Complementary Law Project (PLP) 682, which effectively establishes the Contribution on Goods and Services (CBS), the Tax on Goods and Services (IBS), and the Selective Tax (IS). The text is now being processed by the Federal Senate, with approval expected in 2024.
