Analysis of investments in photovoltaic power plants

The development of greenfield centralized solar photovoltaic generation projects has been growing year on year in Brazil. This trend has intensified since the publication of MP No. 998 in September 2020, later converted into Law No. 14,120/21 [1], which stipulates that projects requesting generation authorization from ANEEL after February 28, 2022, will no longer be entitled to a 50% reduction in TUST/D.
As a reference, in July 2021, there were 3,343 photovoltaic projects with DRO – Dispatch of registration of concession application [2], totaling 146.6 GWac. Of these, 588 projects (23.9 GWac) had their concession published. However, only 68 (2.7 GWac) were under construction [3].
